Replaced Prescott's 1967 Leo Boivin arena

The Alaine Chartrand Community Centre replaced the Leo Boivin Community Centre, the downtown Prescott arena built for Canada's centennial in 1967. Town council closed that rink for good in August 2018, after pressure testing revealed a probable leak in its ammonia refrigeration system, and the old building was judged no longer feasible to restore. In May 2021, with federal and provincial funding committed, the mayor announced that the new arena would carry Chartrand's name after her grandparents bought the naming rights.

The new building stands at the Seymour Recreation Complex, with one NHL-size ice pad seating 800 spectators, a walking track and community rooms. Its ice surface is named for Leo Boivin, the Prescott-born defenceman inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1986, and it is set up for hockey, figure skating and recreational skating. The South Grenville Rangers play National Capital Junior Hockey League games here.

Chartrand, a two-time Canadian national champion, trained in Prescott with the Prescott Figure Skating Club, whose skaters had spent roughly six months a year on the old arena's ice before it closed.
