Arnprior’s twin-pad arena, rebuilt in 2025
The Nick Smith Centre is Arnprior’s recreation hub, with two NHL-sized ice surfaces, the Bert Hall Arena (Arena A) and the Glenn Arthur Arena (Arena B), alongside a pool and a community hall. Its arena slabs and refrigeration piping dated from the original construction in 1977.
In 2025 the Town replaced both slabs in a $7 million revitalization, closing the Glenn Arthur Arena from February 17 to September 25 and the Bert Hall Arena from March 17 to October 25, and switching the coolant from brine to glycol. The work added zero-degree entry to the ice, accessible player boxes for sledge hockey and three meeting rooms with a public viewing gallery on an elevator-served mezzanine.
New stands cut the Bert Hall Arena’s spectator capacity from 1,600 to 1,010, with 11 barrier-free spots in the front row, and give the Glenn Arthur Arena 190 seats. The main user groups are Arnprior Minor Hockey, the Arnprior McNab Ringette Association, the Arnprior Figure Skating Club, the Arnprior Packers and the Arnprior Rivermen.
