What a shop listing is

In regions where Shops & services is open, EveryRink lists the places near the ice where skaters can get skates sharpened, fitted or repaired: each one in the region’s Shops & services list, and the larger ones on a page of their own. What a listing says comes from the shop’s own website, with the date we last read it, or from the shop itself, marked “Checked” with the date it confirmed it.

It is free

Shops do not pay to be listed, and EveryRink earns nothing when you visit one. If that ever changes for a shop, its listing will say so in plain words beside it, and the link will be marked as sponsored.

Featured shops and rinks

For a week or a few weeks at a time, a shop or a rink can be “Featured”. It then takes one of the cards in the list of skating times: on its region’s page, and for a shop on rink pages within about 15 miles (25 km). The card always says “Featured”, because something stands behind it: we may give a place a free week, or feature it in exchange for the place telling its customers that it works with EveryRink; later, places may pay for it. A Featured card links only to the place’s page on EveryRink. It never changes the skating times you see, their order or the order of a Shops & services list.

A person checked it

A listing marked “Checked” means someone on our team spoke to the shop and it confirmed those details on that date. Hours are shown only when they are current. A listing that has not been read again for 60 days leaves the page by itself, and anyone can tell us that a shop has closed or changed.

It is not a review

We have not tested the shop’s work. Each shop is its own business. EveryRink does not run it and is not responsible for its work, prices or hours. Call before you travel. There are no ratings, no reviews and no prices on a listing.

The order is distance

Near a rink, the shops within about 15 miles (25 km) of that rink are shown closest first, and a pro shop inside the rink comes first, because it is the closest. A Shops & services list puts the shops that confirmed their details with us first, then the others. Nobody can pay to move up a list.

What we count

So a shop can see whether its listing is useful, we count how many times its page was opened, how many times a Featured card was on screen or tapped, and how many times people tapped its Website, Directions or Call links. These are daily totals per shop and per page. We keep no visitor identifier, so we cannot tell who you are, and nothing is counted when your browser asks not to be tracked. Website and Directions taps pass through our own short redirect, which counts the tap and sends you straight on; the shop’s website sees that you came from EveryRink. Details are in our privacy policy.

Ads from shops

A listed shop can also write its own ad. An ad is always labelled “Ad” followed by the shop’s name, above its words, and its link is marked as sponsored. The shop wrote it; someone at EveryRink checked it before it went up: the business is real, the details match what it told us, and it makes no claims we could not check (no prices, no “best” or “only”). We have not tested its work.

Ads are free for shops for now; later they will pay to show them, and each ad’s “About this ad” will say so. An ad sits in the list of skating times on rink pages within about 15 miles of the shop, at most one per list, never before the first session. Ads near a rink take turns between the shops within reach, and the same ad shows at most three times in one visit. Nobody can pay to change the skating times you see, their order or their colours. Ads are counted the way listings are (see below).

Run a skate shop?

If you have a counter where skaters can get skates sharpened, fitted or repaired, in the United States or Canada, write to us at [email protected]. Listing is free. Already listed? Choose “Is this your shop?” on its page and give your work email: when the email is on your shop’s own website your account opens at once; otherwise we call the number on your website to check first. In your account you see your page as skaters see it and its numbers, and can ask for changes.

Listed, and something is wrong?

Sign in to your shop’s account at everyrink.com/shop-panel and ask for a change, or take your shop off the site yourself at once. You can also write to [email protected]: we fix it or take it down the same working day. You do not need to give a reason. We only act on a request we can tie to the shop itself.

Every public skate, freestyle, stick & puck and open hockey we can find, straight from each rink’s own schedule. Suggest an idea
