St. Joseph's family-run arena, where hockey, learn-to-skate and adult leagues share one sheet.
The Garden Ice Arena is run by the Glowacki family, and the sport came first. "Hockey has been at the heart of the Glowacki family for as long as we can remember," the arena's own story begins, recalling seven kids for whom the rink became a second home. The family moved to Michigan a year after Howard opened and jumped into the Southwest Michigan hockey community, which immediately felt like home. AJ Glowacki now runs the arena as owner and hockey director.
One sheet carries the whole program. The arena lists Learn to Skate and youth hockey, figure skating, public skate nights and adult leagues on the same ice. Freestyle sessions are open to skaters at Basic 3 and above, and the arena dropped its online signup for them: skaters sign in and pay at the skate counter when they arrive.
