Olympic-sized rink in Abu Dhabi that opened in 1987, the largest of its kind in the UAE
Zayed Sports City Ice Rink opened in 1987, seven years after the sports city around it was inaugurated in 1980. It is the largest Olympic-sized ice rink in the UAE, with seating for more than 1,200 spectators and professional sound and lighting systems for events.
Ice hockey has a place in its calendar. The first President's Ice Hockey Cup was held at the complex in 2014, and a President's Cup in ice hockey was on the programme for November 2015.
The rink runs daily public sessions, figure skating lessons and private events, and it welcomes skaters of all ages and skill levels. The wider complex stages figure skating shows alongside football and tennis tournaments and bowling championships, and Oak View Group Middle East operates it.
