North Battleford's 1962 Civic Centre, with 2,500 seats and the SJHL's Battlefords North Stars
The Access Communications Centre, formerly known as the Civic Centre, is a multi-purpose arena in North Battleford built in 1962; its current name came when the City approved Access Communications' proposal for the naming rights. The arena has a 200-by-85-foot ice surface with 8-foot seamless glass and seating for 2,500 spectators, and Skate Battlefords runs part of its programming here.
It is the home of the Battlefords North Stars of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The team was founded in 1973 as the Battlefords Barons, has been known as the North Stars since 1983 and has won four SJHL championships, most recently in 2023.
When the ice comes out, the building becomes a venue for concerts, dances, pow wows and the Shrine Circus, and it is home to the North Battleford Kinsmen Indoor Rodeo, held every April. The upper auditorium hosts smaller events such as banquets and private functions.
