Billed as the world's oldest purpose-built ice theatre

The Pleasure Beach Arena describes itself as the oldest purpose-built ice theatre in the world, as recorded in the Guinness Book of Records, and as the home of Hot Ice, a seasonal ice show that Wikipedia says has been running since 1936. The building was once the Ice Drome, one of the Pleasure Beach projects of the architect Joseph Emberton.

The arena says it has helped develop the talents of many British and international champions, including Robin Cousins, who performed in a gala there in 1980, the year he won Olympic gold. Every year it hosts an Ice Skating Festival where children from around the country meet to compete, and its 455 sq m ice rink is ringed with theatre seating so that spectators can watch in comfort.

Beyond skating, the arena seats up to 2,200 people theatre-style and has three licensed bars and two cafés. The ice floor can be covered for concerts, and the building has hosted Nickelodeon SLIMEFEST in 2018, 2019 and 2021 as well as the ITV show The Real Full Monty On Ice.
