Cache Valley's year-round ice center, opened January 1, 2002

The George S. Eccles Ice Center opened on January 1, 2002, built with donations and tax money after supporters overcame a mountain of opposition to the project. Volunteers put in hundreds of hours to finish the rink for opening day, and the arena drew close to 900 skaters that day. It was first proposed as the Bridgerland Ice Arena and renamed for the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation.

Weeks after opening, the center served as a practice venue for several international teams before and during the 2002 Winter Olympics, and competing Olympians were among its first users. A renovation in 2004 expanded seating from about 1,000 to 2,000.

Today it is a nonprofit and the home arena of the Utah State University men's hockey club team, the Cache Valley Amateur Hockey Association, the Cache Valley Figure Skating Club and the Cache Valley Stone Society.
