The Chill's second rink, rebuilt flat

Chiller Easton opened in 1997 as the second Chiller, and with it the Columbus Chill joined the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim as one of only two franchises at any level to own and operate two rink facilities.

The building once held Central Ohio's only international-size sheet. Over time, construction mistakes and groundwater issues damaged the subfloor heating header and created an enormous permafrost problem beneath the ice. When the floor was rebuilt, infill along the perimeter slab turned the Olympic-size rink into an NHL-standard 85-by-200-foot sheet with larger player boxes, and the new concrete won the American Concrete Institute's Golden Trowel Award as the flattest floor of its kind.

Today Easton has two NHL-size rinks, ten locker rooms, two multipurpose rooms and the Ice Box concession stand. It is home to the Easton Youth Hockey Association, the Gahanna and Pickerington/Reynoldsburg high school teams and Central Ohio's first and only short track speedskating club.
