Built in 1961 beside St. John Arena, the home ice of the Ohio State Buckeyes women's hockey team

The Ohio State University Ice Rink was built in 1961 on Woody Hayes Drive, against the east side of St. John Arena and just north of Ohio Stadium. Group skating lessons started that same year, and the rink's skate shop has sold figure skating and hockey supplies to central Ohio ever since.
It is a 1,415-seat hockey rink, and a 1999 renovation brought the ice to full NHL dimensions. The Buckeyes men's team played here from 1963 until Value City Arena was completed in 1998. The rink now houses the Ohio State women's team, whose 2026-27 WCHA home games, Wisconsin among them, are scheduled at the OSU Ice Rink. The Ohio State University Figure Skating Club holds its club ice here every Tuesday evening.
The men came back in 2007 for three preliminary-round CCHA tournament games, played here because the state high-school wrestling tournament had Value City Arena. Visitors enter through the West Lobby, under the breezeway the rink shares with St. John Arena.
