North Wales' only permanent Olympic-size rink

Deeside Ice Rink is North Wales' only permanent Olympic-sized ice rink and the National Centre for Ice Sports in Wales. It is home to the Deeside Dragons, who compete in NIHL Division 1 North, and to the Flintshire Phantoms and the Deeside Demons ice hockey teams.

The leisure centre around it was the venue for the 1974 Wightman Cup match and for 1980 concerts by Rush, AC/DC, Blondie, the Clash, Iron Maiden and Bob Marley and the Wailers; Genesis followed in 1982. During the 2020-21 COVID-19 pandemic the building became the Deeside Rainbow Hospital and a vaccination centre.

Deeside Ice Skating Club, affiliated to British Ice Skating, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024. Deeside Synchronised Skating Club was named British Ice Skating Club of the Year in 2025 and includes Wales' first inclusive synchronised skating team.
