Doha's first Olympic-size ice rink, inside Villaggio

Gondolania Ice Arena calls itself the first and only Olympic-size ice rink in Doha and the largest ice skating facility in the city, accredited by the Ice Skating Institute Asia. It sits inside Villaggio as part of the Gondolania family entertainment complex, beside a Venetian-inspired gondola boat ride.

The sheet is shared by a wide mix of skaters. The rink's own pages list junior hockey, a men's league, curling and short track speed skating, and its home page names Qatar Raiders Minor Hockey, a figure skating head coach and an assistant hockey coach. Figure skating lessons are taught on the ice during public sessions, with a portion of the rink closed off so they can run safely.

The arena also hosts ice skating shows, school trips, corporate group activities, product launches and birthday parties, and its 2022 ice show was titled Around the World in 28 Days. Skaters wear a public session wristband, and the rules ask that young children skate with an adult.

A public skating session costs QAR 55 per person; gloves cost QAR 15, socks QAR 10 and a skating aid QAR 20.

Booking & check-in

Skaters buy a public session wristband and must wear it where it can be seen at all times; no tickets are sold to children aged 6 or under unless an adult goes on the ice with them.

Skating with children

Children aged 6 and under must be accompanied on the ice by an adult at all times, and skaters aged 12 and under must be supervised at the rink at all times. Helmets are available at the skate counter for anyone who wants one.
