Fort Saskatchewan's Dow Centennial Centre, built for the city's 2004 centennial, with an NHL-size rink.
No public skating is posted for the next 7 days. New sessions show here as soon as the rink posts them.
The Dow Centennial Centre was built in 2003 and 2004 for Fort Saskatchewan's centennial and opened in September 2004 with a 550-seat performing arts theatre alongside its rink. Taxpayers turned down a first community-centre proposal in 2001, then approved this larger plan in 2002.
Architect Ken Hutchinson designed it to leave its workings in view, with the second-floor running track visible from the reception area, and the centre is known for its energy efficiency and its performing arts theatre. Ceramic tiles designed by the city's 4,400 schoolchildren decorate several of its walls.
Its NHL-size rink, the Sherritt-CEP Arena, carries the City's drop-in skating, shinny and stick and puck sessions, and the building has often hosted Alberta's provincial judo and ringette championships.
