Stony Plain's arena named for Hall of Fame goaltender Glenn Hall, with an 80-foot mural of his career.
The Glenn Hall Centennial Arena carries the name of the NHL Hall of Famer the Town calls its hometown hero, Mr. Goalie, and an 80-foot mural inside celebrates his career and his life in Stony Plain. Chicago's arena announcer first introduced Hall by that nickname, and his 502 consecutive regular-season games across eight seasons stand as the NHL record for goaltenders. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1975.
Hall bought a farm in Stony Plain, west of Edmonton, where he spent his offseasons, and he died in the town in January 2026 at age 94. The mural suits a town known for painted murals of the people and events in its history.
The arena has fixed seating for 898, and its ice season runs from late August to late March, with a dry floor from mid-April to July. Local sport organizations hold most of the regular-season ice on weeknights and weekends from September to March. The Centennial Memorial Outdoor Rink sits behind the building.
