An Olympic-size sheet under a glass dome at Centro Santa Fe, open since 1993
For the latest skating dates, check the rink’s official information.
The rink at Centro Santa Fe opened in 1993 inside one of the largest commercial centres in Latin America. Its sheet is built to Olympic dimensions, and a glass dome above the ice fills it with daylight. The rink has room for 1,500 skaters of all ages, and visitors are met by orange skates and plastic seal-shaped walkers lined up along the ice.
The building also runs a training academy, with classes in figure skating, hockey and speed skating, a sport still new in Mexico. It has staged national figure-skating competitions and hockey tournaments as well as games of the Pan American Hockey Tournament, and public sessions shift around academy training, hockey games and ice maintenance.
International hockey has come here too. Mexico’s under-18 men hosted the IIHF Division III Group A world championship in Mexico City against Turkey, Iceland, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Israel, and at Santa Fe they finished the tournament unbeaten, earning promotion to Division II Group B.
