Known for 40 years as the Centre récréatif Rock Forest, with a new ice plant and lighting since 2024
For about 40 years this City of Sherbrooke complex was known as the Centre récréatif Rock Forest, until it took the name Complexe sportif Forage FTE in June 2025. It is run by Gestion Loisirs Plus, a non-profit founded in 2018 to manage sports and recreation buildings, and besides the rink it houses the largest tennis centre in the Estrie region.
Ahead of the 2024 Jeux du Québec, the City closed the building for major work paid for in part by a Games grant: a new refrigeration system for the ice, new lighting, a renovated mechanical room and upgraded locker rooms. The job ran late and forced Hockey Sherbrooke to reshuffle its schedule. In January 2024 the City announced the rink would be back in use the following week, with the roof replacement left as a second phase for after the Games.
Over the holidays, the Féerie sur glace of the Club Optimiste and the Centre culturel Pierre-Gobeil returns to the rink, with public skating, performers on the ice and prize draws.
