Beaconsfield's 1974 recreation-centre arena, rebuilt with a new cooling system, slab and boards in 2024-25.
The Beaconsfield Recreation Centre was built in 1974 and has seen significant wear and tear over the years. A 2023 needs analysis called for a complete renovation of its arena, which counted 50,000 participants that year.
The arena work came first. It overhauled the cooling system, refurbished the concrete slab, replaced the rink boards and brought the rink up to the latest safety standards, at a total cost of $5.5 million, with users due back on the ice in the summer of 2025. Games and practices on the rink can now be streamed live on LiveBarn.
A larger renovation of the whole centre followed, starting with a preparatory phase in June 2026 and running in phases over about three years, with the centre staying open through the first phase. It adds a new elevator, accessible seating in the arena and universal change rooms.
