Named for a 1939-40 Canadiens captain
The Complexe Walter-Buswell is named for a professional hockey player of 1932 to 1940 who spent most of his life in Saint-Eustache. Buswell played for the Detroit Red Wings and the Montréal Canadiens, and the Canadiens made him captain for the 1939-40 season.
The complex holds two arenas, each named for a city councillor. Aréna Florian-Guindon, glace #1, holds 900 visitors. Guindon sat on council from 1971 to 1988, handled every sports file, and was the driving force behind the construction of the second arena. Aréna Paul-Tardif, glace #2, holds 383.
Paul Tardif was an alderman from 1962 to 1967 and founded the Association sportive et culturelle de Saint-Eustache and the Fêtes du Vieux-Saint-Eustache. He left council to become the City's first permanent director of sports and recreation, and the first arena in Saint-Eustache was built during his term. Besides the two sheets, the building has a pro shop.
