Rosenheim's ice stadium was begun in 1961 and opened on 13 January 1962 as an open-air ground. The city took it over in 1973, rebuilt it and put a laminated-timber roof over it, which lifted the capacity to 8,400 spectators.
The hall has 4,592 square metres of floor and is 21 metres high. It holds 5,022 people today, 1,000 seated and 4,022 standing. Sponsors have given it a string of names, among them Frucade, Marox and Kathrein, and in 2019 ROFA Industrial Automation AG made it the ROFA-Stadion.
Ice hockey in Rosenheim goes back to the 1920s. EV Rosenheim was founded in 1928, and the Starbulls that grew out of it became a fixture in Germany's top league and made the sport popular across the region.
