Named for Idaho Falls hockey figures Joe Marmo and Wayne Lehto

Skating in Tautphaus Park goes back to the park's lake, a popular place to skate from 1910 until it was drained in 1947 after a series of drownings. Funds for a new multipurpose building, an indoor ice rink in winter and an event center in summer, were not secured until about 1983.

The arena is named for local hockey legends Joe Marmo (1925–2016) and Dr. Wayne K. Lehto (1933–2008) and is run by the Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation Department. Its first floor holds an 85-by-190-foot ice surface, and a private room on the second floor overlooks the whole rink. It hosts hockey tournaments and figure skating competitions and shows every year, and during inclusive ice sessions adaptive skaters have half the rink while public skating uses the other half.
