A 1997 arena with seating for 400 that becomes an event hall each spring
Currently out of season The Town of Inuvik's arena page says public skating is free and available daily in the winter, but the arena schedule it links is the 2025-2026 one; no 2026-27 schedule is posted yet. Official schedule update
The Roy "Sugloo" Ipana Arena is part of the Midnight Sun Complex, which the Town calls its main recreation and conference facility. The arena opened in 1997 and has an NHL-size ice surface, a digital scoreboard, four change rooms with showers, seating for 400 people plus an upper viewing area, and a large concession.
It is home to Inuvik's minor hockey, speed skating club, Old timer hockey, Recreation Hockey and Can't Skate hockey. An arena scheduling meeting is held each September, and with the long winters the Town says indoor recreation is a high community priority.
In the spring the ice is removed and the arena becomes a tradeshow, workshop and special event venue, hosting conferences, the Great Northern Arts Festival, ball hockey tournaments and summer activities.
