A 1970s arena rebuilt with a new NHL-size rink

The Preston Auditorium has served the community since the 1970s. Its revitalization began in the fall of 2023 as a complete revamp that improved the existing ice pad and change rooms and added a new NHL-size rink, more seating, change rooms, washrooms and an office space. Members of the community said they remembered incredible moments made at the rink.

The auditorium was meant to hold its official post-renovation grand opening on September 27, 2025, but that date was missed. In October 2025 the City of Cambridge confirmed that the Preston Memorial Auditorium had soft-launched on a Monday and was open for games and practices, with finishing touches still to come, such as millwork wall cladding in the lobby, countertops for the concession area, vending machines and some painting.
