Arkansas's only combined ice and roller rink, founded 1979

The Arkansas Skatium was founded in 1979 with the motto "It's A Great Day To Skate!" It remains the only dual ice and roller skating facility in Arkansas and the only ice arena in Central Arkansas, and it has been open to skaters ever since.

The building pairs an ice arena with a roller rink on Bowman Road in West Little Rock. The ice side is the official home of the Little Rock Aces Hockey Club, and the Arkansas Skatium League fields adult A, B and C level players who have played hockey since their youth, with Learn to Play Hockey for those newer to the game. The roller side is where Rock Town Roller Derby meets and competes; the league staged a doubleheader here on April 12, 2025, and opened its boot camp at the Skatium in July 2026.

Hallmarks of the 1979 vintage were still everywhere in January 2024: the roller track's barriers are carpeted in a Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper print, disco balls hang from the ceiling, and the giant neon letters that once spelled "ICE ARENA" outside the adjacent hockey rink had faded to "ICE ARE."

Skating with children

Non-skating spectators pay $5+tax admission during All Ages public ice-and-roller sessions. A $5+tax skate aide rental helps beginner skaters balance, but the ice-arena aide and roller-arena aide are different pieces of equipment that must be exchanged if a skater switches rinks.
