Middle Georgia's ice venue since 1968

The Macon Coliseum opened on October 30, 1968, built as the first facility of its size and kind in Georgia. It has a capacity of 9,000 and a floor big enough for trade shows, expos, monster truck rallies and ice shows, and since opening some of the biggest acts in entertainment have played the stage.

Hockey has been part of the building for much of its life. The Coliseum has served as home ice to five hockey teams, among them the Macon Whoopee and the Macon Trax, and it is now home to the Macon Mayhem of the SPHL. The arena was renovated in 1996 with the addition of the Edgar H. Wilson Convention Centre.

Film crews have used the rink too: the Coliseum portrayed the Olympic Ice Hall in Albertville and the CC Amfi in Hamar in the film I, Tonya. Public skating is held on the same ice after certain Mayhem home games.
