Medway's rink and home of the Invicta Dynamos

Planet Ice Gillingham has been one of the South East's most visited attractions for two decades, with a full-size ice pad and seating for 800 spectators. When the Invicta Dynamos were founded in 1997 they replaced the Medway Bears as the senior team based at the Ice Bowl, and today the rink is home to ice dancers, families, toddlers taking their first skates and Medway's national league hockey team.

The Dynamos' most successful season came in 2001/02, when they won the EPIHL league and playoffs, and they took the ENIHL Grand Slam in 2005/6.

The ice here is rougher than at other rinks, because of its age and the hundreds of public skaters who tear it up before the players can, which works in the Dynamos' favour. The rink serves the whole county, so late training waits until the public have gone and the ice has been resurfaced. Head coach Karl Lennon grew up in the building while his mother worked in the rink's office.
