Melfort's 1,807-seat arena, home of the SJHL Mustangs, with ice from August to April
The Northern Lights Palace Arena is Melfort's year-round building for hockey, skating and lacrosse, with ice in from August to April. It seats 1,807 for arena events and more than 2,400 for concerts, and an insulated ice deck lets it hold large shows in winter without taking the ice out.
The Melfort Mustangs of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League play here; they joined the league for the 1988–89 season and won its championship in 1992, 1996, 2015, 2016, 2024 and 2025. Melfort Minor Hockey and Skate Melfort share the ice, and in summer the floor goes over to lacrosse.
The arena has hosted the Royal Bank Cup and the men's provincial curling championship. The 2013 SaskTel Tankard was played here from January 30 to February 3, and the provincial women's championship ran here January 2–7, 2018. Inside are numerous dressing rooms, a skaters' lounge, a box office and a full concession in the main lobby, and the concourse hosts a walking program.
