A 2005 city community center whose 80,000-square-foot expansion added a second sheet of ice
Loading public skate, freestyle, and stick & puck times for Andover Community Center…
Andover Community Center was built new in 2005, putting an ice arena under the same roof as a fieldhouse with multiple courts, fitness space and an aquatics center. The City of Andover and the YMCA later took on an 80,000-square-foot expansion of the building.
That expansion gave the center its second sheet of ice, topped by an upper-level walking track and dryland training space, and added a multipurpose field house, community meeting space and a new building entrance and lobby.
Hockey here runs from the Jr. Huskies, an introductory program the Andover Huskies Youth Hockey Association sponsors for children ages 3 to 8, up to the Andover High School boys' and girls' teams, which both play out of the building. Around them the city schedules its own open skate sessions, youth open hockey, adult 18-and-over open hockey and skating lessons.
