Brooklyn Park's two-arena Community Activity Center
Brooklyn Park's Community Activity Center on 85th Avenue was built in 1983 and draws more than 350,000 residents and visitors a year. Improvements to the building were part of the $26 million park bond referendum voters approved in November 2018, and city leaders explored a partnership with the YMCA that dissolved in the wake of COVID-19.
Its two ice arenas provide 6,700 hours of indoor ice each year for about 100,000 skaters and spectators. Arena 1 seats 1,200 and Arena 2 seats 310, and a warm area on the upper level joins the two with a view over Arena 2.
The arenas are the home rink for the North Metro Girls' Hockey team, the Totino-Grace boys' hockey team, the North Metro Youth Hockey Association and the Three Rivers figure skating club, and they host open skate and adult open hockey for the public.
