A 1973 Minneapolis park arena with two full rinks and a studio rink, rebuilt in a 2015 upgrade.
Parade Ice Garden, first called Parade Ice Center, was built in 1973 as one of several citywide facilities established during the Minneapolis park system's 1970s building boom, on Parade land the Park Board acquired between 1903 and 1935. A second hockey rink was added in 1989, giving it two full-size hockey rinks and a studio rink.
In 2015 a $9 million upgrade removed all three rinks and installed new refrigeration systems and ice surfaces. The two full-size sheets measure 200 by 85 feet and the studio rink 96 by 56 feet, and a solar array of 374 panels in 21 sections sits on the building.
The rink hosts high school sectional playoff games and the Skate Parade Ice Skating Institute competition, and it remains one of the main uses of the Parade grounds alongside ball fields and tennis courts.
