Official training center of the Coachella Valley Firebirds
Berger Foundation Iceplex opened in December 2022 adjoining Acrisure Arena in the Coachella Valley. The H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, a private charitable foundation founded in 1961 and focused on the Coachella Valley since 1996, developed the rink on land it owns and is its naming sponsor.
The 36,000-square-foot building holds one NHL-sized sheet with seating for 250 spectators, four locker rooms and a mezzanine level with concessions. It is the official training center of the Coachella Valley Firebirds and home to the CV SK8 Academy. The oldest hockey club in the valley plays here once a week and was the first group on the ice when Acrisure Arena opened in late 2022. Figure skating was in the plan from the start: in January 2023 the Iceplex announced U.S. Figure Skating's Aspire Edge program, named Frank Carroll as its elite figure skating consultant, and made Olympic champion Dorothy Hamill its official ambassador.
Public sessions drew as many as 300 skaters to a single skate in the opening weeks. Public events run through the year, from tournaments and exhibition ice shows to DJ Skate nights and a Frozen 5k. The rink reopened in August 2026 after crews spent a week repainting the surface and re-laying the logos, with the Firebirds mark back at center ice.
