A community rink that began as a temporary facility in 2001

The Palouse Ice Rink opened in 2001 as a temporary facility, a bet that the Palouse community wanted a place to skate. In December 2022 it moved into a permanent, full-size rink in the former NRS building, built with a $1 million contribution from the City of Moscow's Bobby C. Hamilton Fund.

It is a nonprofit run by a volunteer board of directors, inside the Parks Activity and Recreation Center complex on the south end of Moscow. Besides public skating it hosts youth and adult hockey leagues, figure skating, curling, Learn-to-Skate classes, summer roller hockey and a kids camp. Weekly curling, Learn-to-Curl clinics and tournaments run through the season, with 42-pound granite stones sliding toward the house.

The rink marked its 25th anniversary in 2026 with a Silver Anniversary Fundraiser Gala on September 11, 2026.
