250,000 square feet of recreation
The Collicutt Centre is a leisure and wellness centre in Red Deer with 250,000 square feet of recreation space. Alongside its ice arena are a leisure pool and water park, climbing and bouldering walls, a field house, gymnastics, and meeting and dance rooms, plus child care and several small businesses.
At the 2019 Canada Winter Games, which used 13 competition venues in Red Deer, Calgary and Kananaskis, the Collicutt hosted gymnastics and ringette. The City and the YMCA also run a Youth in Facilities project here to build positive relationships with young visitors.
On the ice, the City's drop-in figure skating sessions take up to 15 skaters, with spins practised in the middle of the ice and jumps at the ends. Off the ice, the invitation is to take a dip in the pool, scream down the water slides, scale the climbing wall or play badminton in the field house.
