Salmon Arm's twin-sheet arena, built after a 1998 referendum
Rogers Rink is Salmon Arm's twin-sheet arena at 2600 10th Avenue NE. The Shuswap Arena Society was formed in 1993, after the Mayor and Council called on residents to study the concept of a new arena. In 1998 a referendum passed with 87.4% approval from local residents, and the Society led the process to immediately begin construction of the new Twin Sheet Facility.
The Spectator Arena is a regulation-size ice surface with theatre-style seating for 1,500 spectators, and it can seat more than 2,200 guests in a concert setting. Hucul Pond is an NHL regulation-size surface that seats 300, with four large fully equipped dressing rooms that lead directly to the ice. A large elevated concourse walkway goes completely around the Spectator Arena ice surface.
In 2005 the Society added the operations of the Recreation Centre and field bookings, which led it to become the Shuswap Recreation Society. The two sheets give the community ample ice time for public skating, parent and tot activities and shinny drop-ins, alongside youth and adult hockey, ringette, speed skating, lacrosse and figure skating programs.
