The Savannah Ghost Pirates' new two-rink home
Ghost Pirates Ice Cove grew out of the Savannah Ghost Pirates' need for a practice facility. Zawyer Sports, the private owner of the team, wanted a venue that would build excitement for hockey across the region, and partnered with the City of Port Wentworth on a groundbreaking for the Ice Cove and the city's amphitheater. "Today is a monumental day for hockey in the Savannah and Port Wentworth communities," CEO Andy Kaufmann said.
The roughly $30 million, 90,000-square-foot training facility sits on a 150-acre multi-use park and has two NHL-size ice rinks, 10 locker rooms and a full-service eatery with more than 200 seats, next to the VyStar Pavilion, a 5,000-seat amphitheater for concerts and community events.
The Ice Cove is the home of the Savannah Ghost Pirates and bills itself as the epicenter of ice sports in Southeast Georgia.
