Opened in October 1997 beside Lewis & Clark Park; a Musketeers playoff host when their usual arena was booked
The IBP Ice Center opened in October 1997 just south of Lewis & Clark Park in Sioux City, and Todd Lien has been its facility manager since then. Its sheet is 85 by 200 feet, the same size as the one at the Tyson Events Center, and the City of Sioux City now lists a 38,000-square-foot building with seating for 900.
The building has hosted more than hockey. A Musketeers playoff game was played here when the team's usual home at Tyson was booked for the circus, a couple who were big Musketeers fans were married at center ice, and a curling competition introduced after the 2010 Winter Olympics grew from 12 teams to 18. The Sioux City Musketeers also hold their June tryout camp at the center.
Youth hockey uses the ice from October through March, and the Metros high school team plays its home games here. The center is open year-round for youth hockey, public skating, tournaments, figure skating and off-season inline skating.
