Opened in fall 1983 with a U.S.-Russia exhibition; host of the 2006 Arctic Winter Games and the Brown Bears
The Soldotna Regional Sports Complex opened in the fall of 1983 with an exhibition hockey game between the United States and Russian national teams. It has an Olympic-sized ice sheet and houses the City of Soldotna's Parks and Recreation Department offices.
Over the years the building has hosted Harlem Globetrotters and Anchorage Aces games. It was a focal point for the 2006 Arctic Winter Games, with the opening and closing ceremonies, hockey at all levels, figure skating and speed skating, and for that event installed a new ice rink and a four-sided center-hung scoreboard. It was also home to the Alaska state high school hockey championships from 2000 to 2004.
Central Kenai Peninsula high school hockey teams use the ice in winter, the Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association practices and competes there, and the Kenai River Brown Bears, a Tier II Junior A team in the North American Hockey League, play their home games at the complex.
