A covered winter rink at the National Waterfront Museum

Swansea Winter Wonderland sets its ice rink at the National Waterfront Museum, in an undercover setting so skating goes ahead whatever the weather. There are accessible-only sessions on a weekly basis, and quiet sessions on set dates bring lower levels of music, announcements and lighting, with limited capacity and a more relaxed atmosphere.

The museum is a major new slate and glass building integrated with an existing Grade II listed warehouse, formerly the Swansea Industrial and Maritime Museum. Building and exhibition design was carried out by Wilkinson Eyre and Land Design Studio. The £33.5 million museum, which secured funding from the Welsh Development Agency and £11 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, opened in October 2005, and it is an Anchor Point of ERIH, the European Route of Industrial Heritage.

A team of professional photographers works on the ice and offers prints once you have finished your skate.
