City-owned home ice for UWSP hockey

K.B. Willett Ice Arena is a city-owned, one-sheet rink in Stevens Point, about a mile from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point campus, with ice in from September to April. The City of Stevens Point owns and operates the building, but university and high school programs use it heavily. In the off-season the dry floor hosts trade shows and conferences.

UWSP's men's hockey team calls the Willett home, and the women's team skates here too, alongside local clubs and public sessions. Seating for 1,800 wraps around most of the rink, and Division III game nights get loud. The arena hosted the NCAA Division III championship series in 1990 and again in 2019, plus several NCAA men's and women's quarterfinals; in 1990 Wisconsin-Stevens Point beat Plattsburgh State 1-0 in a deciding minigame to take the title.

Figure skating runs through the Crystal Ice Figure Skating Club, which holds its ice time, tests and exhibitions here and skates in the city's annual Ice Show, which Katie Baeten has directed since 2019; the next edition is set for April 2027. City Learn to Skate classes follow the Learn to Skate USA curriculum in fall and winter sessions. An additions-and-recladding project re-sided the arena in new ACM panels and won a 2024 Projects of Distinction Gold Award.
