Public skating at Whistler Olympic Plaza Outdoor Rink: the next 7 days

Currently out of season The City of Whistler's skating page says skating at Whistler Olympic Plaza is closed and will reopen on November 26, 2026; opening is weather dependent. It prints the operating hours (11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., 2:30 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8:30 p.m.), so no sessions are shown here until the ice is in. Official schedule update

Whistler's Olympic medals plaza, turned into a winter rink

Each winter, Whistler Olympic Plaza is transformed into an outdoor skating rink with the most spectacular view, and a Snow Zone is created beside it where families can slide. The plaza is a legacy of the 2010 Winter Games: for twenty-seven days it was the site of the nightly medal ceremonies.

The Olympic rings and Paralympic Agitos that graced the entrance to Medals Plaza are still a favourite spot for photos, and just beyond them eight aluminum panels commemorate every athlete who took part in the Games. The original Olympic cauldron, lit to signify the opening of the XXI Winter Games, has found a permanent home in the plaza.

The Paralympic legacy is seen in low-grade ramps and raised viewing areas, and the Whistler Cenotaph now stands on the north side of the plaza, at the base of the four large flag poles.
