Yarmouth's double-pad arena, opened in 2001
The Mariners Centre was planned in the late 1990s by the Town of Yarmouth and the municipalities of Yarmouth and Argyle. Construction began in 2000, and the arena officially opened on November 28, 2001, with an inaugural hockey game and a community celebration.
It has two NHL-sized ice surfaces, the Graves Arena and the Pleasant Supplies Arena, and a walking track overlooking the main arena. The Yarmouth Mariners of the Maritime Junior Hockey League moved in from Amherst in 2002 and still play here.
The centre has hosted the 2005 Fred Page Cup, New York Islanders training camps in 2005 and 2006, and the World Junior A Challenge in 2012 and 2013, along with provincial figure skating championships and ringette tournaments. In 2023 it announced a CA$40 million expansion.
