A county rink since 2000, recently expanded

The Schenectady County Ray Wemple Memorial Rink has served residents of the county and skaters from across the Capital Region since late 2000. It is the home of Schenectady Youth Hockey Association, GMSVS Storm High School Hockey and Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa High School Hockey, and of numerous adult leagues.

The county legislature recently unveiled the newly renovated rink, honoring the legacy of Ray Wemple. The expansion added 4,660 square feet with four new locker rooms, an additional changing room, expanded restrooms, a redesigned front entrance, a modern exterior facade and a dedicated activity room.

Its programs run from recreational skating to ice hockey and figure skating for all ages, including open figure skating and an Old Timer Hockey game for seniors, and the Times Union voted it the Best Summer Cool Down.
