Home of the Amherst Ramblers since 1959, with free public skating through a Town pilot
Amherst Stadium was built in 1959 and has hosted many events on and off the ice since. It is home to the Amherst Junior A Ramblers of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League, Cumberland County Minor Hockey and the Amherst Skating Club, and it has welcomed the World Junior A Hockey Challenge and the annual Bluenose Hockey Tournament.
The single 85 by 196 foot ice surface seats 2,200 spectators, with a second-level heated viewing area, five dressing rooms, public washrooms and a newly improved full canteen.
Through a pilot project the Town offers public skating free of charge and waives ice rental fees for youth programs such as minor hockey and figure skating, with the aim of lowering registration costs for local families.
