A 65,859-square-foot 1997 arena with an NHL rink and a studio rink, owned by Black Bear since 2017.
American Heartland Ice Arena opened in Lincolnwood in 1997 and has now passed 25 years as an ice facility for Chicago's near-north suburbs. Black Bear Sports Group bought the arena in 2017, a year after it acquired Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge, and Black Bear still owns it today.
The building covers 65,859 square feet and holds two sheets: one NHL-size rink and one studio-size rink, which Black Bear lists as a multi-purpose sports facility.
Hockey here runs through the Chicago Bulldogs, whose Tier II program the arena hosts under an exclusive relationship with the Bulldogs youth club. The club has since renamed itself Bulldogs HC, the Bulldogs Hockey Club. Figure skating and learn-to-skate lessons are run by Heartland Skating Academy, which works alongside the hockey program in the same building.
