Niles Park District's indoor and outdoor rink
IceLand Ice Arena is the Niles Park District's skating center, with an indoor rink and a roofed outdoor rink. The outdoor sheet is the newer of the two. Work began in July 2013 on a $3.65 million renovation that installed a larger outdoor rink under a roof, together with new condensers and other equipment serving both surfaces, and the locker rooms, lobby and entrances were redone in the same project.
The renovated building reopened on January 17, 2015, with a ribbon cutting and a free skate on the new outdoor rink, and Team IceLand and Ice Infinity skaters performed on the indoor rink that day. Team IceLand, the park district's figure skating team, is taking members for the 2026-2027 season, and the Niles Rangers, the district's Tier 2 travel hockey program, play out of the building. The park district's own events calendar for the rink includes the IceLand Scary Skate on October 31.
