A City of Edmonton arena with a 176-by-80-foot ice sheet
Westwood Arena is a City of Edmonton arena in the city's Westwood neighbourhood, one of the municipal rinks where the city runs its own public skating and shinny hockey sessions.
The ice measures 176 by 80 feet, or 53.64 by 24.38 metres. Four dressing rooms serve the sheet, with one shower shared between each pair. Spectators watch from behind safety netting, and the building has a large lobby.
The arena also kept a piece of Edmonton minor hockey history. In 2004 Orest Zaozirny, president of the Edmonton Minor Hockey Association Alumni, built a trophy case, filled it with the pucks, hockey sticks, programs and photographs he had collected documenting 40 years of the association, and placed it in Westwood Arena. By August 2019 the case, contents and all, had vanished from the arena; Zaozirny believed it may have been moved out during renovation work at the building and that a record of where it ended up should exist.
