Asnières' Olympic-size Courtilles rink, opened in 1970 and home of the Castors
The Courtilles sports centre began in the early 1960s with a gymnasium and a swimming pool, and in the early 1970s it was extended to the south with an ice rink. Plans for the building were approved in 1966 and it opened in 1970, and it was inaugurated in 1971. The rink has a 60 by 30 metre Olympic-size ice surface and seats 1,421 spectators.
It is the home ice of the Castors d'Asnières, the semi-professional hockey team, alongside Asnières Patinage for figure skating and ballet on ice. It has hosted the French figure skating championships three times (1976, 1982 and 2003), the French ice dance championships in 1973 and the French short track championships in 1999.
The same building also houses a boxing gym, and in June 2014 former cruiserweight world champion Jean-Marc Mormeck fought the first bout of his comeback in the main hall.
