Opened in 1946, rebuilt in 2002 and named for Budvar

Budvar aréna in České Budějovice opened on 27 October 1946 as a winter stadium with artificial ice, the third in Czechoslovakia after Prague and Bratislava. It was roofed in 1967, and a second ice surface for training was added in December 1979.

A complete rebuild in 2001-02 ended with the reopening on 4 October 2002, when the stadium took the name Budvar aréna after the Budějovický Budvar brewery, a major sponsor of Czech hockey. The main hall holds 6,421 spectators, 5,870 of them seated, and its ice measures 58 by 28 metres, which does not meet the IIHF standard.

Banes Motor České Budějovice, an Extraliga club, play their home games in the main hall, while the second hall is used mainly by youth teams. The arena has hosted one group of the 1966 men's volleyball world championship, one group and the relegation round of the 2005 under-18 hockey world championship, and the 2025 women's hockey world championship from 9 to 20 April.
