A multi-purpose pitch that becomes an artificial rink each winter, run by the Gambarogno commune
Currently out of season The Comune di Gambarogno's page still shows the 2025-2026 season (22 November 2025 to 1 February 2026) and its sports-centre page says the rink is open from mid-November to mid-February; no 2026-27 dates are posted yet. Official schedule update
At the regional sports centre in Magadino, on the Gambarogno shore of Lake Maggiore, the municipality has run an artificial ice rink since 2017. The commune says the centre has been through several major maintenance, extension and improvement works in recent years and now offers football pitches, a BMX track, an athletics track and a playground to a wide group of users.
In winter the multi-purpose pitch turns into a 40 by 20 metre rink, open from mid-November to mid-February. It is there for the whole population, for the lower and primary schools and the kindergarten, for hockey tournaments and for skating courses, and clubs and groups can book hours on the ice. Skittles on ice (birilli su ghiaccio) can be played there for free.
From the sports centre a fitness trail through the Bolle di Magadino, built in 2017, is within easy reach for anyone who wants to walk before or after skating.
