Inaugurated in 1995

The Cornèr Arena, whose ice is known as the Pista ghiaccio Resega, was inaugurated in 1995, and the City of Lugano calls it a jewel of the city. The first rink, inaugurated in 1957, had no roof and stood open toward the snow-covered mountains. Today the hall holds 6,733 people, 1,850 of them standing, and has 21 changing rooms and a surface of 3,600 square metres for the Resega and the Reseghina.

Inside there is also a meeting room. The building stays open all year and, besides hockey and skating, serves other sports events, cultural and recreational initiatives, concerts and fairs. Hockey Club Lugano has won two Swiss championships here, in 2003 and 2006, and lost four finals, in 2001, 2004, 2016 and 2018.

The city sets aside one weekend in November for the Lugano Cup, when public skating is suspended.
