Austria's only open-air speed-skating oval, rebuilt in 2016
The Außeneisring of the Olympiaworld Innsbruck was renovated and rebuilt in 2016. In winter it is described as the only speed-skating ring under the open sky in Austria, used for skating competitions as well as public and school skating. The track is 400 metres long and 12 metres wide, with 4,770 square metres of artificial ice on the track and 3,416 square metres inside it.
The infield serves as a hockey ground that many ice hockey clubs use for training, and in summer the area inside the ring is used for inline hockey. Speed skaters of the Tiroler Eislaufverband train in the hall from August to mid-November and then move to the outer track.
The ring has also been the stage for large open-air concerts, with Pink, OneRepublic, Paolo Nutini and David Guetta named on the operator's own list, and for a drive-in cinema.
